Six weeks after the accidental death of her husband Georg, Victoria Wessendorf decides to fly to Bangkok to take care of Georg's affairs there. He had just bought an expensive apartment that Vicky wants to sell as soon as possible.

Several incidents in Victoria raise the suspicion that Georg might have had a relationship with his business partner June van Driel. With the help of Georg's secretary Elke Klein, Vicky can locate the woman's whereabouts. During her visit there, she meets her mother, Harriet van Driel, who is the managing director of the real estate company June also works for. June van Driel is currently looking for a private tutor for her daughter Anna. The applicant for this post is expected at this time. Harriet van Driel thinks Vicky is the announced applicant. After Vicky first wants to clear up the misunderstanding, she then lets it go and pretends to be this teacher, all the more to learn more about and from June van Driel.

June is currently on the way to her brother Tim's tea plantation in northern Thailand , where Vicky is supposed to go. A close relationship quickly develops between Vicky and Anna. Vicky gives her best and teaches Anna, among other things, German and piano. She should also teach her Chinese, which she does not know how to do. Vicky makes do with a dictionary so that she can speak at least a few bits of Chinese with a businessman who has traveled from China. To her relief, he speaks fluent German; so Vicky can still hide her true identity.

Meanwhile, another visit to the tea plantation is announced, a certain architect named Georg Wessendorf, Vicky's husband believed to be dead. Vicky falls from the clouds and is desperate. She believes that her husband's death was faked to cover up the truth. In truth, however, Georg's secretary had only neglected to cancel the flight that had already been booked before Georg's death.

When the real applicant shows up at the real estate firm to ask for her application documents back, Harriet van Driel travels to the plantation to confront Vicky. Vicky reveals her true identity and learns that June van Driel has had a relationship with Georg for a long time and that Anna emerged from this connection. June also gave Georg the apartment as a gift - out of love for him and as a place where he can live with Anna, should she not survive her cancer. After having to endure chemotherapy again, she worries about the future of her child.

Vicky and June discussed the matter. After distrust shaped the beginning of their acquaintance, a tacit understanding develops between the two. Vicky decides to stay in Thailand and wait for the further development of June's illness in order to be there for Anna if necessary. She picks June up from the hospital, they want to celebrate Anna's birthday together. The little one is very happy when her mother brings Vicky with her.

criticism

“It is probably the fate of Friday evening in the first that thin penny novel stories are rolled out to 90 minutes. After all, this time too, wanderlust-fevered landscape panoramas compensate for the consumptive dialogues. "Later:" Penny-pound trash in a wanderlust backdrop. "Conclusion:" Far from home, still further from real life. "Later:" Far from home and far from real life. "

“At first you have a hard time following the unrealistic plot by the authors Renée and Rolf Karthee (' Die Alpenklinik '). An under-challenged Suzanne von Borsody struggles against the plot and partly unbelievable supporting actors to create images that are reminiscent of the ' dream ship ' going ashore. However, when the staff went into the enclosure of a breathtakingly picturesque tea plantation, clichés faded and the plot became more complex. Can it be that both women are right? Who is angry here anyway? The second half of the ARD film on the feather-light broadcasting slot on Fridays at 8:15 p.m. surprises as an exciting psychological study with suspense effects. In addition, one is happy about the open figure drawing, which discusses a diversity of life and family models without judgment. "
