Shimal Sina ( Arabic محافظة شمال سيناء, DMG Muḥāfaẓat Šimāl Sīnāʾ ' Gouvernement North Sinai ') is a governorate in Egypt with 450,328 inhabitants and is located in the north of the Sinai Peninsula .
It borders the Mediterranean Sea to the north, the Gaza Strip and Israel to the east, the Janub Sina governorate to the south and the as-Suwais , al-Ismaʿiliyya and Bur Saʿid (Port Said) governorates to the west . The administrative center is al-Arish .
