As-Suwais ( Arabic محافظة السويس Muhāfazat as-Suwais , DMG Muḥāfaẓat as-Suwais , Egyptian-Arabic Muḥāfẓet El Suweis ), also Suez , is a governorate in Egypt with 510,935 inhabitants and is located in the Suez Canal zone .

It borders the al-Isma aniliyya governorate to the north, the Shimal Sina and Janub Sina governorates to the east, the al-Bahr al-ahmar governorate to the south, and the al-Qahira and al-Jiza governorates to the west . The administrative center is Suez .
