Schirum is a district of the district town of Aurich in the Aurich district in East Friesland , Lower Saxony .
history
The Aurich district of Schirum was an independent municipality until it was incorporated on July 1, 1972, in which agriculture played a decisive role. It is the southernmost district - about four kilometers from the city center - it crosses the B 72 . From the former town center, the former community has developed mainly to the south-west, today's Schirumer-Leegmoor.

Economy and Infrastructure
Among other things, the Ems-Jade Canal , the East Friesland hiking trail leading through Schirum, is advertised here for tourism . The Schirum I industrial area - the youngest industrial area in Aurich - has existed since 1996 . This has meanwhile been expanded to include the “Schirum II” industrial park.
