The Schleifbach is a 1.5 km long stream in the Ostalbkreis in northeastern Baden-Württemberg , half of which runs through lakes, which flows into the upper Bühler from the right and northeast between the yards of Ziegelhütte and Hammerschmiede in the Pommertsweiler district of Abtsgmünd .

geography

course

The Schleifbach arises about 0.5 km west-southwest of the Edelstrut road on the outskirts of Adelmannsfelden at about 434  m above sea level. NHN in a swampy. herbaceous meadow in the Gewann Schinderberg . The small valley continues uphill in two branches, a very short one to the northwest and one about 150 meters long to the north to the dump limit of the landfill in Hannenfleck . Both upper valleys do not seem to have permanent water.

The Schleifbach initially runs in a swamp without a clear bed between meadow hills in an arch that sweeps to the left and experiences some inflow from nearby hill sources from the left. After about 200 meters, the last of these small tributaries joins and it turns to the southwest.

It flows through its valley basin in close succession to heights between a little below 450  m above sea level. NHN and slightly below 440  u m. NHN successively three ponds of 0.6 ha, 0.2 ha and 0.7 ha area, passes a less than 0.1 ha large on the right bank and then runs through the 1.8 ha large grinding pond (formerly known as Rohrweiher ). In the inlet area there are silting zones. On the left, the lower lakes border the Finkenhau forest , while the Scheifhäusel von Adelmannsfelden residential area is on the right bank of the Schleifweiher.

Then the Schleifbach immediately crosses the L 1072 and flows a hundred meters further at 434  m above sea level. NHN in the Eisenweiher , with an area of 7.0 ha one of the larger of the Hammerschmiedeseen , which follow one another in the valley basin of the Bühler. The lake and its shoreline are already on the outskirts of the Pommertsweiler district of the neighboring community of Abtsgmünd . About 300 meters further west across the wider lower part of the lake, it leaves it again at the dam and a stone's throw further between the Pommertsweiler Höfe Ziegelhütte and Hammerschmiede from the right into the upper Bühler .

The Schleifbach flows after a 1.5 km long path with an average bed gradient of about 14 ‰, about half of which runs into lakes, about 22 meters in altitude below its origin.

Catchment area

The Schleifbach has a catchment area of about 1.2 km², which in terms of natural space lies in the lower area of the Ellwanger Mountains of the Swabian-Franconian Forest Mountains . Its highest point on a small field crest in the Gewann Edelstrut on the eastern watershed on the western edge of Adelmannsfelden reaches about 483  m above sea level. NHN .

In turn, the catchment areas of the following neighboring waters are adjacent:

  • On the other side of the eastern watershed, five streams run from the Adelmannsfeldener Klingenbach down to the Fürtlesbach , eastward and from the right to the Blinden Rot , a tributary of the upper Kocher .
  • To the south a nameless stream runs from the Edelwasen westwards to the Bühler , which leads to the middle boiler.
  • The Mühlhaldebach competes in the northwest near the mouth of the downstream Bühler
  • The Zimmerbach behind the Scheide in the north reaches it even further downwards.

Except in the valley basin with its alluvial bottom, the Stubensandstein ( Löwenstein formation ) of the Mittelkeupers is everywhere . In the slightly hilly landscape, the grassland dominates, with the exception of a few high-altitude fields and the Finkenhau forest to the left of the lower reaches in front of the iron pond.

On this side of the northeastern watershed, there are a few newer buildings on the outskirts of Adelmannsfelden , including commercial buildings, just within, otherwise the Adelmannsfeldener residential area Schleifhäusle is in the catchment area .

Protected areas

The entire catchment area lies in the Swabian-Franconian Forest Nature Park , a strip of the edge of the lake to the left of the stream just before the influence of the iron pond in the Upper Bühlertal nature reserve and the surrounding area .
