Rittershain Castle
The Rittershain Palace is a palace complex with parking in Art Nouveau . The castle complex is located in the Rockensüß district of Cornberg in the Hersfeld-Rotenburg district of Hesse .
history
In 1322, a settlement near today's castle location was first mentioned in a document. But as early as 1376, Rittershain was desolate, because the Lords of Rotenburg , as a Hessian fiefdom , owned "the ulcers, fields and fields of Rittershayn". Then Rittershain became a fiefdom of the Lords of Eschwege in hersfeld , which passed to the Lords of Wehren and was finally transferred to the Lords of Cornberg in 1583 .
On Gerhard Mercator's map of 1592 is a good added that the family of Biedenfeld farmed. In 1843 Hermann von Biedenfeld built a new farm belonging to Rockensüß. Then, in 1854, today's Art Nouveau palace with park was built for the von der Recke family . Today it is owned by a family from the Ruhr area.
In the 20th century a restaurant was maintained in Rittershain Castle. The Art Back to Nature Art Trail by Austrian artist Motron A. Havelka leads past Rittershain Castle.
