The Grasburg is an Outbound Höhenburg ( Wallburg ) at Grasberg to 469 m height at the end of a back clip-like sloping east limestone plateaus about 1000 meters northwest of the district Mansbach the community Hohenroda in Hersfeld-Rotenburg in Hessen .

The Grasburg are the remains of a ring rampart , probably dating from the eighth century , which was probably used in connection with the incursions of Saxony as a deployment area, starting point or retreat without being inhabited for a long time.

The area of today again completely overgrown plant is part of the 44 ha large nature reserve Schwärzelsberg-Langenberg-Grasburg .

The castle stables of the former castle complex still show the remains of the ramparts and moats . Excavations from 1976 showed that the wall was a post-slot wall from the year 800 AD, which was not completely closed to the north. The cause of the not closed wall to the north is not clear. The approximately 5 meter high wall, together with a trench approximately 3 meters deep, offered a strong approach obstacle, especially to the west. To the east there are high natural rock cliffs that replaced a wall.
