The old castle Lispenhausen is a defunct Niederungsburg in the district of Lispenhausen , a district of Rotenburg ad Fulda in the district of Hersfeld-Rotenburg in northern Hesse .

The castle was 185  m above sea level. NN about 700 m southwest of Lispenhausen in the wide floodplain of the Fulda , on a field in the corridor "Auf der Altenburg" ("off de allenburg"). As early as 1582, “2 acker landes uff der Aldenburgk” was named, so that the plant had already fallen into desolation and was under the plow. Aerial photos from 1991 showed the moat of the earlier castle. It may have been the predecessor of the Lispenhausen moated castle and was abandoned after it was built.
