The Schloss Stein school is a recognized modern language, economics high school and boarding school for boys and girls in Bavaria. Around 150 pupils are taught in the private school. The school, founded in 1948 by the Wiskott family in the reform pedagogical tradition of rural education homes according to Hermann Lietz , is run by the third generation of Sebastian Ziegler.
The place Stein an der Traun is part of the city of Traunreut . The castle tracts of the boarding school form the lower castle of a three-part castle complex of Schloss Stein .
concept
As one of the smallest boarding schools in Germany, the students can be personally supervised in small study groups. Since 2001, the students have been wearing uniform and mandatory school clothes .
Training directions
All students start in the 5th grade with English , in the 6th grade either with French or Latin and one year later they choose either the linguistic or the economic and social science branch.
Linguistic branch
From year 8 onwards you can choose between French and Spanish.
Economics and social science branch
From the 8th grade on, business and legal studies and business informatics are taught, as well as social studies from grade 9 onwards.
care, support
The craft sector includes glass blowing, pottery and model making. In addition to archery, fitness, golf, karate, rugby, diving, tennis, the school also has several horses, a stable and its own paddock . Riding lessons are offered for the students. Since 2010, a new multi-purpose hall for physical education has been available to schoolchildren for popular ball sports. The special feature is a spring-mounted glass floor in which integrated LEDs indicate the respective playing field markings for handball, basketball and volleyball. This floor construction is so far unique in the world. (As of June 2011)
In addition to sport, the holistic educational concept also includes a large number of musical offers for piano, electric guitar, guitar and drums. There is also a choir and a theater group. Since 2001 the Steiner Schloss Stein school has regularly organized the Steiner Literature & Media Week.
Alumni
The Altsteiner Verein eV is dedicated to promoting education and maintaining networks. There are regular meetings of the alumni of the institution.
