The Schwing GmbH is a German manufacturer of mobile and stationary concrete pumps and truck mixers, headquartered in Herne and the parent company of Stetter GmbH in Memmingen . The group of companies is the world's largest manufacturer of concrete pumps . The company employs over 3,300 people in seven countries worldwide. There are also sales companies in over 100 countries.

history

The Schwing Group was founded on March 17, 1934 by Friedrich Wilhelm Schwing (* 1909; † 1992), a master locksmith from Wanne-Eickel , as a medium-sized craft business. In 1957, Schwing built the world's first oil hydraulic two - cylinder concrete pump. From 1964 the company built the first large concrete mixing plants. In 1965 the company launched its first on a vehicle-mounted concrete pump on the market, adding these concrete pump 1968 through a distribution boom . In 1973 the company built a truck-mounted concrete pump with a large placing boom that could be extended 45 meters, an outstanding innovation at the time . In 1976, Schwing brought the first residual concrete processing plant onto the market.

After the company's founder had handed over management to his two sons in 1980, they acquired Stetter GmbH in Memmingen in 1982 , which manufactured truck mixers . This enabled the company's market dominance to be expanded and the company's portfolio to be expanded . The company was now able to offer combined truck mixers with a concrete pump mounted on them, and developed into the market leader .

At the end of the nineties there was a dispute between the owners. The company was about to be sold to an American company. With the help of banks, a state guarantee and private assets, Gerhard Schwing managed to buy his brother's shares. Until October 3, 2013 he was the sole managing director of the GmbH. In 2012, as a result of the global economic and financial market crisis, Schwing was taken over by the Chinese manufacturer XCMG , which became the majority owner.

From October 4, 2013, Thomas Ostermann was the new managing director of Schwing GmbH. Ostermann was released from his position as managing director at the beginning of April 2014.

Since June 2014 Gunther Abolins, previously managing director of the subsidiary Stetter GmbH, and Xianliang Sha have been appointed to the management.
