Scott Fields
Scott Fields (born September 30, 1956 in Chicago , Illinois ) is an American musician (guitarist, composer) of creative jazz and improvised music .
biography
Fields began his musical career as a self-taught rock musician in Chicago, but then moved on to jazz under the influence of musicians from the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians . He later studied classical guitar, jazz guitar, composition and music theory. In 1970 Fields co-founded the avant-garde jazz trio Life Rhythms . After the formation after two years, he temporarily withdrew from the music scene, then worked as a musician again in Madison (Wisconsin) and then recorded albums for the Music & Arts , Cadence and Delmark labels in the 1990s . On his album 48 Motives seemed Marilyn Crispell and Joseph Jarman as a guest musician. Fields made a name for himself as a composer with titles such as 48 Motives and 96 Gestures .
Over the course of his career, Fields has also worked with musicians such as Hamid Drake , Jan Klare , Guerino Mazzola , Myra Melford , Larry Ochs , Jeff Parker Matthias Schubert and Elliott Sharp . He currently lives in Cologne and forms a trio with Achim Tang and Paul Lytton as well as the String Feartet . He is also a member of the Multiple Joy [ce] Orchestra .
