Scream -

Scream is the eleventh studio album by musician Ozzy Osbourne . It was released on June 11, 2010.

Emergence

Osbourne recorded Scream with Gus G. ( Firewind , ex- Dream Evil ) after working with Zakk Wylde on the previous album . Osbourne composed and wrote the lyrics with producer Kevin Churko, who also played drums and rhythm guitar, and the rest of the band added more pieces. It took a year and a half to work on the album, which Osbourne described in retrospect as "too long". In between, however, he always took breaks.

“The new album is the first that I recorded straight, with a really clear head. That has never happened to me in my life! "

- Ozzy Osbourne

Osbourne planned an 18 month tour to promote the album.

Style and content

The vocals on the album are sometimes very demanding, the other instruments are also played at a high level:

“A friend of mine once told me that Ozzy Osbourne's genius isn't that he's splendid musician or songwriter, but that he surrounds himself with people who are. That definitely seems to be the case with "Scream," in which Ozzy has surrounded himself with the best bunch of players and songwriters since the halcyon days of "No More Tears" [...]. ”

“An old friend once told me that Ozzy Osbourne isn't a great songwriter or musician, but that he surrounds himself with people who are. That also seems to be the case with Scream , where Ozzy has surrounded himself with the best bunch of musicians and songwriters since the quiet days of No More Tears . "

In the play Diggin 'Me Down , Osbourne speaks directly to Jesus when he would be back and wonders what has to happen for this to happen. Osbourne said in an interview that he had "read the Bible but found no sense in it." The cross he carries already a long time is, as a symbol of something "very meaning", but for him neither Christ nor the Antichrist to to do. The last song, I Love You All, is a thank you to his fans.

reception

The album is, according to some commentators' a collection 30 year old heavy metal - stereotypes "is. Laut.de described the song as a studio technical heavily edited and live not feasible, the album was" mixed ". There was no point in changing the two guitarists. Planetrock.com , however, finds the album "one of the toughest and most satisfying Ozzy albums in more than a decade." Even the world praised the album, calling it "crazy" and awarded the highest rating of five stars. Vampster .com wrote: " Scream can of course not displace classics like Blizzard of Ozz , Bark at the Moon , No More Tears or maybe Ozzmosis , but lets forget the weaker albums of recent years."
