Sebastian Formella (* 26. May 1987 in Lauenburg ) is a German boxer in the welterweight and container bridge driver . He became IBO world champion in his weight class in July 2019 .

He is trained by Mark Haupt and Peter Cwielong in the Hamburg ECB boxing stable and marketed by EC Box-Promotion. His manager is Steffen Soltau.

Career in professional boxing

Sebastian Formella started with seven boxing matches in 2014, including a title match from the German International Association. He could decide all of these for himself. In 2015, three boxing matches followed, each of which was a title match of the Global Boxing Council. He won this too. He remained unbeaten in 2016 at the end of which a series of 13 victories stood.

He played his first boxing match in 2017 for the first time outside of Germany in Malmö. This, as well as all others of the year, including an IBO continental title fight against the Moldavian Denis Krieger, he won on points.

This was followed by another championship fight for the IBO intercontinental and WBO European titles in March 2018 against the German Angelo Frank . He defended the latter in the next fight against Ilias Essaoudi . He finished the year unbeaten in December against the Namibian Betuel Ushona. In June 2019 he defeated the South African Thulani Mbenge in an IBO world championship fight. He is unbeaten with a series of 22 professional fights won.
