The Seehorn is a 2321 m high peak in the Berchtesgaden Alps , in the Pinzgau not far from the Salzburg - Bavaria border .
location
The Seehorn is located at the eastern end of the Weißbachtal and north of the Dießbachtal near Lofer . Below are the Seehornsee and Dießbach reservoir in the west . On the ridge between the two valleys west of the Seehorn is the Kallbrunnalm , one of the largest alpine pastures in the Berchtesgaden Alps.
The Hochkalter rises to the north, the Watzmann to the northeast, the Große Hundstod to the east , and the Hocheisspitze to the northwest .
Directly to the north, after the Hochwiessattel (approx. 2040 m ), are the Palfelhörner ( large 2222 m , small 2073 m ). The three mountains form a small group between Wimbachscharte ( 2004 m ) and Kühleitenschneid (at least around 2020 m ). On the Bavarian side, this is included in the southern Wimbach chain of the Hochkaltergebirge , and on the Austrian side usually in the Steinerne Meer .
Approaches
The Seehorn is a popular hiking mountain, and a very well-known ski tour leads to its summit. It can be reached from the Wiesbachtal and the Kallbrunnalm from Weißbach, as well as from the Dießbachsee there or via the Hochwies and Hochwiessattel, as well as there from the Ingolstädter Haus , i.e. easily crossed on the marked path. From the north, the marked path leads from the Wimbachtal ( Wimbachgrieshütte ) over the Loferer Seilergraben on the Palfelhorn-Westfuß to the Hochwiessattel.
