Selfira Ismailovna Tregulowa ( Russian Зельфира Исмаиловна Трегулова ; born June 13, 1955 in Riga ) is a Soviet - Russian art scholar .

Life

Tregulova's parents are a cameraman from Tatarstan and a sound director from Kyrgyzstan who, after studying together at the Moscow All-Russian Institute of Cinematography , were employed in the Riga Cinema Studio . Tregulowa studied in the Department of Art History of the Faculty of History of the Lomonosov Moscow State University (MGU) with end 1977. 1981 joined them at the MGU the postgraduate from.

In 1984 Tregulova became the curator of international exhibitions of Russian art in the All- Russian Art Production Company of JV Vuchetich . In 1990 she curated exhibitions at the Seattle Art Museum and the Smithsonian Institution . Later she became assistant to the general manager of this company. 1993–1994 she did an internship at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York City .

1998–2000 Tregulova headed the Foreign Relations and Exhibitions Department of the Moscow Pushkin Museum . She curated the exhibitions Amazons of the Avant-Garde in the Deutsche Guggenheim in Berlin , in the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao , in the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice , in the Guggenheim Museum in New York City and in the Royal Academy of Arts in London (together with John Ellis Bowlt ).

In 2002 Tregulova became Deputy Director General for Exhibition Work and International Relations of the Museum of the Moscow Kremlin . In particular, she organized exhibitions on communism as a dream factory ( Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt 2003 together with Boris Groys ), on the artists of the boy of diamonds ( Monte-Carlo 2004), on the 100th anniversary of the Ballets Russes Sergei Pavlovich Djagilews (Monte-Carlo 2009 together with John Ellis Bowlt) and on Socialist Realism ( Rome 2011 together with Matthew Cullerne Bown).

In 2013 Tregulova became the general director of the Moscow State Museum and Exhibition Center ROSSISO . Her work was very much appreciated by the Minister of Culture, Vladimir Rostislawowitsch Medinsky . This was followed by exhibitions on Kasimir Severinovich Malewitsch and the Russian avant-garde ( Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam , Tate Modern London, Bundeskunsthalle Bonn ), on Viktor Jefimowitsch Popkow ( Russian Art Academy Moscow, Ca 'Foscari Venice, Somerset House London) and on Russian Palladianism ( Museo Correr Venice together with Arkady Viktorovich Ippolitov ).

In 2015 Tregulova became General Director of the Tretyakov Gallery, succeeding Irina Vladimirovna Lebedeva .

Political and social engagement

Tregulova has been a member of the Council for Culture and Art of the President of the Russian Federation since 2018 . In the same year she was included in the list of active supporters of the candidate Vladimir Putin for the presidential election and also in the list of supporters of the candidate Sergei Semyonovich Sobyanin for the Moscow mayoral election. In January 2020 she joined the working group to prepare proposals for constitutional amendments .
