Shaun Sutter (born June 2, 1980 in Red Deer , Alberta ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player and current coach who worked for the Saint John Flames and Lowell Lock Monsters in the American Hockey League , the Lausitzer Füchse in played in the 2nd ice hockey Bundesliga and for HC Alleghe in Serie A1 . His father Brian was a professional ice hockey player, as were many other members of his family.
Career
Shaun Sutter began his career as a hockey player in the Western Hockey League , in which he was active from 1997 to 2001 for the Lethbridge Hurricanes , Medicine Hat Tigers and Calgary Hitmen . During this time he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 1998 in the fourth round as a total of 102nd player by the Calgary Flames , for which he never played. Instead, the attacker was on the ice from 2001 to 2003 for their farm teams , the Saint John Flames from the American Hockey League and the Johnstown Chiefs from the East Coast Hockey League . This was followed by two seasons in the ECHL with the Florence Pride and Fresno Falcons , where he also ran up in the 2004/05 season in two games for the Lowell Lock Monsters in the AHL.
From 2005 to 2008 Sutter played in the British Elite Ice Hockey League for the Nottingham Panthers , Sheffield Steelers and Belfast Giants . He also finished the 2005/06 season in the Swedish HockeyAllsvenskan at Nyköpings Hockey . The Canadian started the 2008/09 season with Lausitzer Füchsen in the 2nd Bundesliga and ended the season with HC Alleghe in the Italian Serie A1 . After the end of the 2009/10 season, Sutter ended his playing career and was assistant coach with the Regina Pats from the Western Hockey League.
