history

The franchise was founded in 1997 and started its gaming operations in the ECHL. Head coach was Jack Capuano , who played in the NHL during his career. The Pee Dee Pride reached 76 points in their inaugural season, placing them third in the Southeast Division and qualifying for the play-offs. In the first round they were defeated by the South Carolina Stingrays in just under five games. In the following season, the Pee Dee Pride won 106 points and easily reached the playoffs. The team only failed in the Conference Finals, in which they were defeated by the Mississippi Sea Wolves in five games. Nevertheless, this represented the greatest success of the franchise.
