Shawn Drover (born May 5, 1966 ) is a Canadian drummer. Best known for his work at Megadeth , he was previously active at Eidolon for many years .

Career

Drover started playing the drums at the age of 13. In 1993 he founded Eidolon with his brother Glen Drover , who later also played for Megadeth for some time, and released several studio albums with the band, which is now on hold.

Six days before Megadeth's Blackmail The Universe tour began for The System Has Failed album , Drover replaced Nick Menza in October 2004 . His brother, who had previously joined Megadeth, recommended him. Since he also plays guitar, Shawn Drover briefly swapped instruments with his brother Glen during some concerts. In 2008, Glen Drover left Megadeth. It was Shawn Drover who showed Dave Mustaine a video of his successor Chris Broderick , whereupon the latter was brought into the band.

In November 2014, Shawn Dover announced that he was leaving Megadeth. He wants to concentrate on his own musical projects in the future. So he founded the Act of Defiance with Broderick .

style

Shawn Drover is known for using the open handed drumming method. The hi-hat is played with the left hand instead of the right hand, the snare drum with the right hand instead of the left.

Equipment

Drover plays drums from ddrum , cymbals from Sabian and drumsticks from Pro-Mark .
