Loureiro is known for his strong technical skills on the guitar, often using techniques such as two-handed tapping , sweep picking (full arpeggios ), alternate picking, hybrid picking, artificial and natural flageolets or the combination of legato and staccato in one run or include a phrase. He has also published instructional and demonstration videos and has written columns for Cover Guitarra , Guitar & Bass and Young Guitar magazines with cover stories.

Although Loureiro plays as a right-handed guitarist, he is originally left-handed. He therefore focuses on techniques for the right hand in many exercises.

Loureiro has been married to a Finnish pianist and keyboardist since 2011. The two met in 2008 while Loureiro was performing on Tarja Turunen's Storm World Tour . The couple has three children.
