The Shoqëria Sportive Vllaznia ( Gegisch for sports society brotherhood ; also Klubi Sportiv Vllaznia ; often abbreviated only Vllaznia ) is an Albanian sports club from Shkodra . The traditional club is considered to be the oldest club in Albania.

history

The company Vllaznia was born on 16th February 1919 established as a merger of the company Mustafa Pasha and one by Pashko Vasa named company. While the latter was an association of Catholic Shkodrans, the former was an association of Muslim city citizens. The united society saw itself as a patriotic association and was active in the subjects of literature , theater, music and gymnastics . The first activities of the society included the establishment of a school and a library as well as the organization of sporting competitions. The first chairman of the Vllaznia Society was Hilë Mosi . Kel Marubi was among the founding members and board members . Kol Margjini was responsible for the sports area.

In 1920 Vllaznia organized the first athletics competition in Albania. In 1925 the first cycling tour was held, which is considered the first to be held on the Tour of Albania . At that time the company also published the sports newspaper "Gazeta e Sportit".

Team of Bashkimi Shkodran 1935

At that time there were seven sports clubs in Shkodra. Vllaznia is considered to be the oldest club in Albania, although the Aferdita cultural and sports association was founded in Elbasan as early as 1908 . In 1930, five of the Shkodran sports clubs merged to form Bashkimi Sportiv Shkodran (Shkodran Sports Association). This also represented the city when the first Albanian football championship was held in the same year . On April 11, 1935, the Vllaznia was re-established. After the occupation of Albania by Italy in 1939 until the end of World War II , the association was inactive. In 1945 Vllaznia immediately won - and for the first time - the football championship .

As part of the celebrations for the 100th anniversary, the Albanian President Ilir Meta honored numerous athletes from Vllaznia and also recognized the club as such.
