Siegfried Friedrich Kasimir Adolf Kuno Hereditary Count zu Castell-Rüdenhausen (born March 17, 1860 in Rüdenhausen ; † February 2, 1903 in Santiago de Chile , Chile ) was a German lawyer and diplomat .

Life

Born as the son of Prince Wolfgang zu Castell-Rüdenhausen, Siegfried zu Castell-Rüdenhausen studied law in Strasbourg , Munich , Brussels and Würzburg after attending grammar school in Büdingen . During his studies in 1883 he became a member of the Adelphia Würzburg fraternity . After he had passed his second state law examination in 1886 , he entered the consular service in 1888 , first in the legal department and later in the commercial and consular department. In 1890 he became Vice Consul at the Consulate General in New York and in 1891 at the Consulate Alexandria before he was appointed as Acting Administrator of the Consulate in Cairo in 1893 . In his diplomatic career he went to the embassy in Tehran in 1894 and became legation secretary in Tangier in 1896 . In 1897 he became counselor at the embassy in Madrid before becoming first secretary at the embassy in London in 1898 . In the same year he was transferred to the German Embassy in Rome and in 1901 became envoy to Santiago de Chile and Minister Plenipotentiary of the German Empire in Chile; also in Guatemala .
