history
The first settlement of Siehdichführ probably began at the beginning of the 16th century. In 1532 the place is known as "See yourself for". The actual establishment of the Waldhufendorf began with the construction of the "Schwarzmühle" on the Geigenbach. Today only the foundation stones and the mill pond are left of this. In 1555, the forest property of Caspar von Trützschler zu Falkenstein had given Lorenz Mendel land "uffn Sihe dich foue" to build a grinding and cutting mill. The place name "Siehdichfür" probably goes back to the dark and dense forests and the boggy ground at the time.
Despite a trade route leading through the town, the development of the town was slow. In 1792 there were only 11 "cottagers". It was only with the development of the curtain industry in Grünbach that Siehdichfür experienced faster growth. In 1885 the place had 137 inhabitants.
Siehdichfür belonged to the Electoral Saxon or Royal Saxon Office of Plauen until 1856 . After 1856 the place belonged to the Falkenstein court office and from 1875 to the Auerbach administration . The local situation Obersiehdichfür, located about 300 meters south of Siehdichfür, was dismantled in the course of the construction of the Werda dam (Geigenbachtalsperre) between 1904 and 1909 .
On July 1, 1948, Siehdichfür was incorporated into Grünbach. As a result of the second district reform in the GDR , the municipality of Grünbach became part of Auerbach in the Chemnitz district (renamed the Karl-Marx-Stadt district in 1953 ), which was continued as the Saxon "Auerbach district" from 1990 and became part of the Vogtland district in 1996.
