The type 158 is a multi-purpose cargo ship type of the Sietas shipyard in Hamburg-Neuenfelde , of which three units were manufactured in 1996.
history
The three ships were ordered on November 30, 1993 by the Finnish shipping company Langh Ship, which had received three Sietas cargo ships of the type 145 in 1989 and one of the type 129a in 1991 . The keel laying of all three new buildings took place in July 1994. The model ship in the series is Laura , named after the daughter of the shipowner Hans Langh , which was launched on July 24, 1996 and was delivered by the shipyard on August 30, 1996. The second ship, the Hjördis named after the mother of the owner , was launched on September 9, 1996 and was taken over by the shipping company on October 11, 1996. The last ship is the Marjatta, named after the shipowner's wife . It was delivered on November 9, 1996.
The shipping company Langh Ship primarily uses the ships for feeder traffic to / from Finland. In January 2009 the Marjatta carried out its first Atlantic crossing, transporting steel strip coils from Finland to New Orleans (USA).

The 119.85 meter long double-hulled ships were built in section and are designed for ice thicknesses of up to 80 centimeters ( ice class E3). The Laura has a carrying capacity of 6,535 dwt , the Hjördis of 6,526 dwt and the Marjatta of 6,527 dwt. The type 158 can transport a maximum of 466 20-foot standard containers (TEU) or up to 230 40-foot containers (FEU) plus 6 TEU. With an average weight of 14 t per container, a maximum of 320 TEU can be loaded for reasons of stability. A transport of containers with special dimensions is possible, whereby up to 114 45-foot containers (90 of them on deck) or up to 65 30-foot containers (all on deck) can be stowed. There are also connections for 40 refrigerated containers on deck.
The ships have three box-shaped holds with hydraulic folding hatch covers . The camera-monitored cargo holds have a volume of 8,251 m³ (7,896 m³ bale space) and a container capacity of 158 TEU. Holds 2 and 3 are equipped with a hydraulically adjustable intermediate deck that can be loaded with 4 t / m². The tank cover is reinforced for the transport of heavy goods and designed for a load of 15 t / m². The hatch covers can be loaded with 1.75 t / m², with timber cargo with 2 t / m².
The type 158 is driven by a 5.850 kW paid Wärtsilä -6L46B- diesel engine driven, via a reduction gear to a variable pitch propeller acts. An electrically powered bow thruster with 550 kW power is available for berthing and casting off maneuvers . There are two diesel generators and a shaft generator on board to generate electricity.
