Silverstone International 1954

The 1954 Silverstone International was a sports car race that took place on May 15 of this year at the Silverstone Circuit . The race was not part of any racing series.

The race

In 1954, Scuderia Ferrari was able to enter the Silverstone International winners list for the third time. After the victory of Alberto Ascari in the Ferrari 166MM in 1950 and the success of Mike Hawthorn in the 340MM , José Froilán González crossed the finish line first in a Ferrari 375 Plus in 1954 . He won the race by more than a minute over the two Britons George Abecassis and Peter Walker .
