Simon Glass (born March 9, 1982 in Timaru ) is a former New Zealand ice hockey player who spent his entire career in Queenstown and from 2005 to 2016 at the Southern Stampede in the New Zealand Ice Hockey League and was three times New Zealand champion with the club.

Career

Simon Glass began his career as a hockey player with Southern and played for the Queenstown Rangers from 2004 to 2005. In 2005 he moved to the Southern Stampede , for which he played in the then newly founded New Zealand Ice Hockey League . In the first two years he was able to achieve the New Zealand championship title with his team, and in 2005 he was also top scorer, top scorer (together with Loren Nowland ) and best preparer of the league. In 2008 he was again the best preparer in the league. He was also recognized as the most valuable player in the final. After winning the title again with the Stampede in 2016, he ended his career. After his resignation, his jersey number 10 will no longer be awarded by the Southern Stampede.

International

With the New Zealand national team , Glass first took part in the 2000 D World Championship . After changing to the current division system, he played in Division II in 2001 , 2004 , 2005 , 2006 and 2008 , and in Division III in 2003 and 2007 . In 2002 he took part with the New Zealanders in the qualification for Division II, but failed in North Korea and Mexico .
