Simon Kočevar (born December 21, 1990 in Postojna ) is a Slovenian biathlete .

Simon Kočevar starts for SK Kovinoplastika Lož . The student lives and trains in Lož . He started biathlon in 2003 and has been a member of the Slovenian national team since 2005. He has been competing in international races since 2006. The highlight of the first season was the participation in the Biathlon Junior World Championships 2007 in Martell , where the Slovenian was 51st in the individual, 31st in the sprint, 27th in the pursuit and eleventh in the relay. A year later in Ruhpolding he came in 28th in the individual, 56 in the sprint, 33 in the pursuit and 12 in the relay. In 2009 he came in Canmore on the ranks 20 in the individual, 26 in the sprint, 18 in the pursuit and 12 with the relay. For the fourth time Kočevar took part in a Junior World Championship in Torsby . In the individual, he finished 49th, 26th in the sprint and 32nd in the pursuit. Later in the year he also took part in the junior races of the 2010 Summer Biathlon World Championships in Duszniki-Zdrój , where he was fifth in the sprint and 15th in the pursuit. In 2011 the Slovenian competed in three international championships. First he was at the Biathlon Junior World Championships 2011 in Nové Město na Moravě 15th of the individual, 13th of the sprint and 23rd of the pursuit and thus had his best of all five world championships. This was followed by the junior races of the European Biathlon Championships 2011 in Ridnaun , where he was 30th in the individual, 41st in the sprint and 40th in the pursuit. For the relay race, he was appointed to the men for the first time at a major event. In the further course of the year he also took part in the junior races of the Summer Biathlon World Championships 2011 in Nové Město, where he was 25th in the sprint and 15th in the pursuit and won the silver medal with Eva Urevec, Lili Drčar and Anže Povirk behind the Russian relay.

Kočevar has been competing in men's races since 2008. He contested his first races here on an international level as part of the IBU Cup in Idre , where he was 76th and 53rd in sprints. In 2010 he won first points as the 28th of a sprint, in the following season he was able to improve his best performance in Martell to a 16th place in the individual. At the EM 2011 he was used for the first time in the men's international championship and came in ninth place in the relay race alongside Peter Dokl , Vid Vončina and Povirk.
