Vid Vončina (born August 16, 1985 ) is a Slovenian biathlete .

Vid Vončina had his first successes in archery biathlon . At the archery biathlon world championships in Krün in 2003 , he won the bronze medal behind the representatives from Russia and Ukraine in the relay race alongside Andrej Zupan , Ivan Maradin and Matej Krumpestar . Two years later he won silver behind Russia with Krumpestar, Zupan and Jaka Marinšek in Forni Avoltri . At the last archery biathlon world championships in Moscow in 2007 , he won the silver medal behind Konstantin Pogorelow in the mass start.

Vončina has been competing in the Olympic biathlon since 2009. He contested his first races at the start of the 2009/10 season in Idre in the IBU Cup and was 98 in his first sprint. Towards the end of the season, he won his first points as the 30th of a sprint in Pokljuka . In 2011 he achieved his best result so far in the racing series with 14th place in the Annecy sprint . Shortly afterwards he started his first race in the Biathlon World Cup at Holmenkollen in Oslo and achieved a 96th place in the sprint. The first major event was the 2011 European Biathlon Championships in Ridnaun , where Vončina finished 36th in the individual, 33rd in the sprint, 41st in the pursuit and with Peter Dokl , Simon Kočevar and Anže Povirk, ninth in relay. Later in the year, the Slovene also competed at the Summer Biathlon World Championships 2011 in Nové Město na Moravě , where he was 36th of the sprint and was eliminated from the pursuer.
