Pierre Campana (born May 1, 1985 in Bastia on Corsica ) is a French rally driver .

Career

Campana started rallying in 2004 and initially drove at a few smaller rally events. He also worked regularly as a copilot. In 2007 he started a run of the World Rally Championship , the Corsica Rally . There he competed again in a Renault Clio R3 in 2008 and took third place in the JWRC ranking. That year he mainly drove in the French rally championship and came third in the internal Suzuki Rally Cup . For the 2009 season, Sabrina De Castelli became his new co-driver. Campana continued to compete in the French Suzuki Rally Cup and repeated its third place in the points classification. He also reached third place in the Clio R3 West European Trophy . In 2010, he took second place overall in this one-make cup. He also started some races of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge for the first time in 2010 . He finished the Monte Carlo Rally and the Belgium Geko Ypres Rally in second place in the 2WD Cup classification. In addition, he had his first assignments in 2010 in a Super 2000 vehicle.

At the start of the 2011 season, Campana contested the Monte Carlo Rally in the Renault Clio R3, with which he won the 2WD Cup classification in this rally. At his home game, the Tour de Corse , he started an IRC run for the first time in a Peugeot 207 S2000 . There he made a name for himself by keeping up with the top IRC pilots and finished fourth. At the Sanremo Rally he finished in the points again. His career took another leap when Campana was accepted into the support program of the Fédération française du sport automobile in the summer of 2011 . The French motorsport federation selected him to drive a Mini John Cooper Works WRC of the Drive Pro team in certain WRC races. After making his debut in a World Rally Car at the Rallye Deutschland and finishing 18th, he won the Rallye du Mont-Blanc, part of the French championship, with the Mini . At the Rally France he scored his first World Championship points with ninth place.
