Simon Wallner (politician)

Simon Wallner (born February 11, 1970 in Obertrum am See ) is a politician of the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP). Since 2008 he has been mayor of Obertrum am See and since June 2018 a member of the Salzburg state parliament .

Life

After primary school and secondary school in Obertrum am See, Simon Wallner attended HBLA Ursprung in Elixhausen , where he graduated in 1989 . After his military service , he was employed by the Raiffeisen Association Salzburg from 1990 , most recently as warehouse manager in Oberndorf .

Since 1995 he has been employed by the Salzburg office of the provincial government , initially he was responsible for the areas of contractual nature conservation and budget in the nature conservation department. From 2000 to 2008 he worked in the office of Regional Councilor Josef Eisl , from 2004 he was his office manager and responsible for the areas of agriculture and forestry, animal welfare, veterinary, agricultural education, hunting and fishing, nature conservation and rural development. In the office of Regional Councilor Josef Schwaiger , he is responsible for water and budget.

In April 2008, Simon Wallner was elected mayor of Obertrum am See . In this function he succeeded Matthias Leobacher (ÖVP), who was mayor from 1993. After the state elections in Salzburg in 2018 , he was sworn in as a member of the Salzburg state parliament on June 13, 2018 in the constitutive session of the 16th legislative period .

Since 2018 he has also been chairman of the regional association of the Salzburg Lake District . In autumn 2018 he was elected to the Supervisory Board of Salzburg AG as a representative of the co-owner of the State of Salzburg . In the municipal council and mayoral elections in Salzburg in 2019 , he was re-elected mayor with 94.66 percent.
