The Cayman (named after the caimans , Russian Кайман ) is a lightweight 4 × 4 - armored cars , which at the since 2015 the Belarusian armed forces is used. The Ivory Coast bought eight vehicles in 2018.

Technology and equipment

The vehicle was first seen during a visit by the Belarusian President Aljaksandr Lukashenka in “140. Repair shop ”, which designed the vehicle. The company developed the concept of the new vehicle in just four months and a prototype was tested very quickly . 90% of the individual parts come from domestic production, according to a manufacturer's spokesman. The Kaiman is based on the chassis of the Soviet BRDM-2 , however the turret has been removed and there are two hatches on top of the crew compartment and a door on each side of the hull. The front of the vehicle is modeled on the German Fennek reconnaissance vehicle . The driver sits in front and has a comprehensive view through three large armored glass panes .

The D-245.30E2 diesel engine is located in the rear of the vehicle and has an independent torsion bar suspension . The caiman can travel on roads at a maximum speed of 110 km / h and a maximum range of 1000 km. The vehicle is completely amphibious, two propellers at the stern provide propulsion in the water. Here, 8 km / h should be possible.

The caiman has a total mass of 7 tons and can carry a maximum of six soldiers. The roof of the vehicle can be equipped with a rotating ring mount that can be armed with a 7.62mm PKS machine gun and / or with a 30mm AGS machine grenade launcher. In addition, a smoke thrower is installed.

The Kaiman is powered by an in-line four-cylinder diesel engine of the type D-245.30E2, which is produced in the Minsk engine plant.
