Simona Păucă (now Simona Rus ) (* 19th September 1969 in Azuga , Prahova County ) is a former Romanian gymnast and two-time Olympic champion .

Career

At the age of 14 she took part in the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles and, together with her teammate Ecaterina Szabó, became Olympic champion on the balance beam. With the Romanian team she won another gold medal in the all-around competition. In the individual all-around she was third. In 1993 she married the businessman Gheorghe Rus and is now the mother of a son. She currently lives in Cluj-Napoca , where she works as a trainer.
