The El Tallán district is located in the province of Piura of Piura Region in northwestern Peru . The district has an area of ​​116.52 km². At the 2017 census, 5,387 people lived in the district. In 1993 the population was 4,334, in 2007 4,774. The administrative seat is Sinchao .

Geographical location

The district of El Tallán is located in the south of the province of Piura. It extends on both sides of the Río Piura . The district is located 25 km south of the regional capital Piura . It extends over the arid landscape of the coastal desert of northwestern Peru. Irrigated agriculture is practiced in the west of the district. The national road 1N ( Panamericana Norte ) crosses the district in a northerly direction.

The El Tallán district borders on La Unión to the west, the La Arena and Cura Mori districts to the north, the Catacaos district to the east and the Sechura province to the south .
