Skills in Pills is the debut album of the German-Swedish Metal - duo Lindemann consisting of Till Lindemann and Peter Tägtgren .
history
The desire for a joint album on the part of Lindemann and Tägegren has existed since the turn of the millennium. Lindemann was in Sweden with Rammstein colleague Christian “Flake” Lorenz . Tagtgren prevented a fight between the Rammstein members and provocative bikers and then invited them to his place. This created a friendship between Lindemann and Tägegren.
All songs were recorded in Tägegren's Abyss Studio in Pärlby . The first song recorded was Ladyboy in 2013 . The texts were penned by Lindemann and partly by Tägtgren. With the exception of the string instruments, all of the instruments were recorded by Tägtgren.
Videos were shot for the singles Praise Abort and Fish On under the direction of Zoran Bihać . Lindemann and Tägegren can be seen in both videos.

Information about the songs
- In the lyrics of the song Skills in Pills , the lyrical ego experiences excessive feelings of happiness after taking the pills, but then plunges into depression again , starts the cycle of taking again and wants to die. In an interview with the Märkische Allgemeine , Lindemann confirmed that it was a song for the television series Breaking Bad .
- In ladyboy it comes to the subject of transsexuality .
- In Fish On it comes to the fairer sex, which is compared with creatures from the sea, and is fished from the lyrical I and captured.
- Children of the Sun deals with the transience of being as well as the moment, as Lindemann said in an interview.
- Home Sweet Home deals with the topic of cancer and related near-death experiences . The title of the song and the refrain imply the afterlife as a "home sweet home".
- The song Cowboy tells the story of a reckless gunslinger who mainly uses his abilities to have sex. However, at the end of the song it turns out that the lyrical self wasn't a gunslinger, but now sits in a rocking chair with artificial teeth and is sad about not having been a real cowboy.
- Golden Shower deals with the subject of urophilia .
- The song Yukon is about the Yukon River , a stream that rises in the Canadian territory of the Yukon and flows predominantly westward in the US state of Alaska into the Bering Sea. Lindemann sings about the dangers of the gold rush at that time . Lindemann experienced the Yukon during a long vacation.
- Praise Abort acts from the perspective of a father praising the benefits of abortion . His motives result from a lack of gratitude from his children and a lack of luxury. The song was released as a single and caused a stir in the media because of the music video.
- The bonus track That's My Heart sings about the heart as an organ . In contrast to the rest of the songs on the album, this song contains string instruments, a piano and a children's choir in the chorus.

Reviews
“'Skills in Pills' is a huge boom without being particularly dangerous. The duo always stays nicely in the middle of the road with wide-legged riff scrubbing, set loud-quiet dynamics and medium tempos. "
“Lindemann want the fast number instead of love for everyone - and that is exactly what makes this album so lovable. The fact that some listeners seem to be more seriously bothered by the processing [...] may be calculated - or simply a hint that art and satire can and must do everything. Above all stir it up. Skills in Pills has succeeded on all levels. "
“Lindemann does not have pills for everything, but there are some effective pick-me-ups and sedatives. However, 'Skills In Pills' lives mainly from the lyrics. The musical accompaniment is good, but accompaniment that simply rushes through when in doubt. Too seldom do the duo allow themselves an outlier. "
