In 1998 the Portuguese group Sonae Indústria bought 85% of Glunz AG shares through its holding company Tafisa and thus became the new owner. Wood-based material production and the construction of a new plant in Nettgau were planned by 2001.

In 2001 the Eiweiler location received the FSC certificate DIN EN ISO 14001 . The company headquarters were relocated from Hamm to Meppen and the plant in Triangel was shut down. The opening of the plant in Nettgau took place in 2002, the Göttingen location was given up. In 2006 the group took over the Hornitex activities with the plants in Beeskow , Duisburg and Horn-Bad Meinberg .

In 2007 a cooperation agreement was signed with the Interprint company.
