Emily Ann Sonnett (born November 25, 1993 in Marietta , Georgia ) is an American football player .
Career
society
During her studies at the University of Virginia , Sonnett has played for the Virginia Cavaliers university team there since 2012 . In parallel, she completed sporadic missions from 2013 for the Atlanta Silverbacks and the reserve team of the Washington Spirit in the W-League , and for the reserve team of the Chicago Red Stars in the WPSL . With the latter, she won the championship final against SoCal FC in 2015 . With Portland, she won the US championship in 2017 and reached the final again in 2018 .
On January 15, 2016, she was signed as the first player in the NWSL college draft of the Portland Thorns FC franchise .
National team
Sonnett took part with the US U-23 national team in the six-nation tournaments in 2014 and 2015 in La Manga and was used in all three games. On October 25, 2015, she made her debut in a 3-1 win over Brazil in the senior team of the United States .
She was also on the roster for the 2016 Summer Olympics qualifier , which the United States won. She came to two missions: In the 10-0 in the last group game against Puerto Rico she was in the starting line-up, in the final against Canada she was substituted on in the final minute. For the Olympic Games, in which the USA failed for the first time in the quarterfinals, she was then not nominated. In 2017 she was not considered, but in 2018 she made 14 games, starting nine times and winning the SheBelieves Cup in 2018 , the Tournament of Nations and the CONCACAF Women's Gold Cup .
On May 1st, she was nominated for the 2019 World Cup . At the World Cup, she only had an eight-minute short assignment in the second group game against Chile , which made her the field player with the least amount of time in the squad.
