The Sony Xperia Z3 was established in September 2014, on the IFA in Berlin presented and is a full HD Android - smartphone from the Xperia series of the company Sony . The Xperia Z3 was shipped with Android version 4.4.4 KitKat with Sony UI . An update to Android 5.0.2 Lollipop has been available since April 2015 , which was followed in July 2015 by a further update to the latest version 5.1.1, which is also called Lollipop . On April 9, 2016, Sony started handing out the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update. The current status of the Google security updates is as of July 1, 2016.

The Xperia Z3 was used by Sony Mobile as a test device for the update to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow (originally 6.0). This is a public test, whereby 500 voluntary testers can download beta versions of Android 6.0.1 with a revised Sony UI for their Z3 and notify Sony of any errors. The current version has the version number MOB30M.Z1.3633 and brings a low battery mode and the Google security updates from July 1, 2016.
