The Sotterbach or Sottersbach is a 6 km long southern and left tributary of the Heller in the Westerwald . It flows in the Rhineland-Palatinate district of Altenkirchen (Westerwald) ( Germany ).
course
The Sotterbach rises in the eastern part of Rhineland-Palatinate in the southern Hellerbergland and in the northern Westerwald. Its source is not far from the border with North Rhine-Westphalia at about 491 m above sea level. NHN in a wooded area on Hommelshahn (approx. 520 m ).
Initially the Sotterbach flows in a westerly direction, later in a predominantly northwestern direction. It takes in smaller streams , including the Hellebach coming from the east. In the lower reaches of the stream flows along the former iron ore mine San Fernando ; The Thomas Magnete company is based on its former site .
The Sotterbach flows into the Sieg- tributary Heller flowing from the east at Herdorf at around 231 m .
Catchment area and tributaries
The catchment area of the Sotterbach covers 8 km²; it is located in the southern Hellerbergland and in the northern Westerwald. The largest tributary is the Hellebach:

To the east, the catchment area of the Sotterbach borders on the catchment area of the Direnbach , which is also located in the southern Hellerbergland and in the northern Westerwald, and flows into the Daade .
