Stötten is a village in the Upper Austrian municipality of Gampern in the Vöcklabruck district .

geography

The Rotte is located around one kilometer southwest of the community capital Gampern and extends in a west-east direction to around 260 meters, in north-south direction to around 330 meters. Immediately southeast of the village is the village of Viehaus . Stötten lies at around 553  m above sea level. A. in a hilly landscape to the east and flat, predominantly agricultural landscape to the west. In the north borders the Piesdorfer Holz, named after the neighboring village of Piesdorf . Stötten is one of the more southerly villages in the municipality of Gampern. A residential building is located around 150 meters north of the core town in an exposed location and cannot be reached directly from the core town. In the broader geographical context, Stötten is part of the Vöckla-Ager hill country between the Mondsee Flysch Mountains and the Hausruckwald in the Alpine foothills .

history

Stötten was first mentioned in 1362 as Steten . In 1787 the spelling as Stetten and in 1788 a building status of seven buildings is proven. The area is likely to have been inhabited in prehistoric times, but this cannot be proven. Through the registers of the parish Gampern, a peasant succession in the place from 1666 to today can be traced. The village has been severely hit by natural disasters several times, including hailstorms in 1885 and 2000.

economy

Up until the 20th century, the economy was shaped by agriculture and forestry. In 1910 a wood processing company was founded in the village, which today employs around 25 people. There are three farms in the village, one of which has an attached grocery store.

Infrastructure

Stötten is connected by goods roads with the village of Gampern in the east and Piesdorf in the west. Several hiking and cycling trails lead through the village or past it.
