St. Andrew

The Catholic parish church of St. Andreas is in Teistungen , a municipality in the Eichsfeld district of Thuringia . The parish is part of the Dean's Office Leinefelde-Worbis in the Diocese of Erfurt .

From the former aisle church from 1722 to 1726 only the church tower with its curved dome in the west, the former portal in the south, today in the east, and the church furnishings from the Teistungenburg monastery are preserved.

The current church was built in 1933/1934 according to plans by the Düsseldorf architect Thiethmann. It has a recessed, rectangular choir in the north and a low aisle in the west and a sacristy in the northeast.

The high altar was created in 1756–1760 by Bernhard Kopp from Duderstadt. In the middle there is a crucifixion group with a painted crucifix . On both sides there are statues of the apostles Peter and Paul between twisted columns , on top St. Andrew , on the side figures of St. John Nepomuk and Augustine , on top the dove as a symbol of the Holy Spirit . An embroidered antependium is from the end of the 17th century. In the side altar from around 1690 there is a wooden figure of Joseph in a niche between twisted columns, above is the Evangelist John. The pulpit is from the middle of the 18th century. The carved figure of John the Baptist is on the sound cover . The oil paintings from the middle of the 18th century show the Assumption of Mary , Nicodemus around 1600 and Bernhard von Clairvaux around 1700. The carved figures of Saint Anthony and Saint Christina were made around 1700, James the Elder at the beginning of the 16th century. The carved figure of the Virgin Mary from the end of the 15th century is now in the Göttingen Museum.

The first organ was built by Johannes Creutzburg in 1723 . It was replaced by an organ with 14 registers , which are divided into 2 manuals and pedal . It was built in 1934 by the Krell Brothers .
