The laying of the foundation stone of the church was dated to the year 1782. Due to missing or incorrect records, neither the exact date nor the cost of building the church are known. It is only known that money from the abbot of Kornelimünster and income from collections were used for the construction. The Benediction of St. Brigida took place on November 8, 1784 by the administrator of the imperial abbey Kornelimünster .

Due to a reorganization, St. Brigida became a parish church in 1804 .

It is known that in 1854 the choir was laid out with white and black marble stones, and in 1861 the floor was given a new covering.

Donations made it possible to buy a new way of the cross in 1903 . Due to donations, a statue of St. Brigida acquired.

Bells

In 1832 Jacob Frings lent the town of Venwegen 110 Reichstaler , 1 silver groschen and 5 pfennigs to purchase two bells in Maastricht, the Netherlands . These originally weighed 400 and 260 pounds, respectively. Both were recast in 1853 by the Aachen bell caster Josef Beduwe because they had cracks. The chime, inaugurated in 1853, weighed 608 and 385 pounds. At the end of the First World War they had to be given up. In 1924 Venwegen received new bells from the Maria-Himmelfahrt parish in Stolberg-Mühle . These had to be handed in in May 1942 as well. In 1945 Allied troops returned the Brigida bells that had been delivered. In 1965 all bells had to be melted down due to damage and replaced with three new ones a year later:
