Heroldishausen, St. Crucis

The Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Crucis is in Heroldishausen , a district of the rural community of Unstrut-Hainich in the Unstrut-Hainich district in Thuringia . The parish Heroldishausen belongs to the parish Bollstedt in the parish of Mulhouse the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

A first chapel is mentioned in 1017. It was a gift from Emperor Heinrich II to his wife Kunigunde . The current walled hall church was built in the middle of the 18th century using the rubble stones from the previous Romanesque building. The nave and is covered with a mansard roof. The upper floor of the choir tower in the east is slated and has a pointed tent roof . After 1850 a staircase was built in the west. In the 1970s, a morgue was added to the northeast .

The southeast entrance is built in half-timbered houses. The interior has two-storey galleries on three sides . It is covered with a broken flat ceiling. The pulpit altar from 1739 is decorated with Corinthian columns . The southern window in the choir was designed by Wilhelm Franke in 1914, the northern window in 1952. One epitaph is dated 1746.

The organ with nine registers , divided into two manuals and a pedal , was built in 1859 by Friedrich Petersilie from Bad Langensalza and restored in 2011 by Schönefeld Organ Builders.
