The Roman Catholic side church of St. Helena in Wachelkofen , a district of the municipality of Hohenthann in the Lower Bavarian district of Landshut , is a simple rococo church that was built and consecrated in 1751 . The two-column high altar with a representation of the church patroness , for whom the Landshut painter Thaburger was responsible, was created in 1754. It is about St. Helena of Constantinople (Memorial Day: August 18), mother of the Roman Emperor Constantine the Great . In older documents, Holy Cross was often mentioned as the patronage . The side church of the parish St. Laurentius in Hohenthann is registered as a monument with the number D-2-74-141-40 at the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation .

The east- facing hall church has two window axes and a retracted choir , which includes a window axis and closes with a semicircular apse . The corners of the nave at the transition to the choir are rounded. The nave and choir both have a gable roof , although that of the altar house is slightly lower. Compared to other Rococo buildings, the exterior is kept simple. It is only structured by pilaster strips , a base band and so-called bass violin windows. The tower is built on the apex of the choir and the sacristy is on the ground floor . The two-storey substructure with a square floor plan is also structured by pilaster strips and merges into a square attachment with beveled edges just above the ridge height , which has round- arched sound openings on all sides . The tower is crowned by an eight-sided pointed spire that was erected in 1868. The flat-roofed interior is structured by pilasters .
