History of the churches

Already under the Fulda Abbot Hadamar (927–956) a settlement unit Rodaha is mentioned in the Karlmann donation . Abbot Richard (1018-1039) is mentioned as " Superior Rodaha" when Oberrode is mentioned for the first time. At that time, Haimbach was an old parish since the foundation of the Fulda monastery and about 5 km walk from Oberrode / Mittelrode. In 1720 the first St. Josef Chapel was built in Mittelrode under Prince Abbot Konstantin von Buttlar .

In 1914 the citizens managed to set up a church building fund with 1,200 RM to build their own church. However, with the beginning of the First World War , efforts to build a new church were interrupted. The following Second World War also brought setbacks, until in 1949 a building site for a church and the creation of a cemetery could be measured. It was not until 1960 that the responsible pastor of Haimbach, Alexander Werthmüller, endorsed the construction of the church in Oberrode and in 1962 commissioned the architect Richard Möller, Neuhof, to plan the new church. At the same time the old parish church in Rommerz from 1865 was demolished and its rubble stones were used for the construction of the new St. Hubertus church. The foundation stone was laid on June 16, 1963, and on September 13, 1964, the church was consecrated by Cathedral Chapter Hermann Pralle. On the 19th, the Bishop of Liège / Belgium granted Pastor Wertmüller's request and the new branch church was given a relic of St. Hubertus handed over to the diocesan bishop Adolf Bolte . On July 1, 1967, the establishment of the branch parish of Oberrode / Mittelrode was approved by the episcopal authority.

architecture

The St. Hubertus Church was built in 1963/64 according to plans by architect Richard Möller, Neuhof . It is a rectangular building 21.95 m long and 12.25 m wide and corresponds to the architecture of the 1960s through its simplicity, almost rigor. The nave is oriented north-south as a hall church and has a 4.14 m deep rectangular choir . In the north stands the square church tower, 28 m high and tapering towards the top, with four sound windows at the level of the bell chamber . The striking spire is a steel construction and covered with copper. The visible white sandstone masonry gives the north and south facades of the nave and the church tower a natural appearance. The tower has a tower clock and a weathercock .

Artistic design

The interior of the church is a mixture of modern and baroque. The high altar , which was probably made around 1700, comes from the demolished baroque chapel from 1650 (the old church of Nüsttal-Morles). It was transformed into the Hubertus Altar by the wood sculptor Aloys Knapp, Neuenberg, and the restorer Willy Eckert from Bad Mergentheim, using antiquarian items. The church patron St. Hubertus standing in the middle of the triumphal arch is a Baroque statue of the Salzburg region acquired from an antiquarian bookshop. The stag head and cross insignia complement today's high altar and have been redesigned by Eckert in polished white and bright gold in the style of high baroque . The altar is crowned by an extract from the altar with an image of Anna and a final altar cross.

organ

The first makeshift electric organ was procured for the church in 1971. The new Hey organ was inaugurated on December 11, 1977.

Bells

The three chimes of St. Hubertus

In the bell tower of St. Hubertus, which is adorned by a tower clock , a three bell hangs on one level.

The St. Mary Bell was a gift from Diocesan Bishop Adolf Bolte on September 8, 1964.

On December 8, 1968, the newly procured St. Hubertus and St. Sebastian bells were consecrated by the cathedral capitular Ludwig Pralle.
