The Catholic branch church St. Laurentius and Stephanus is an important post-Gothic architectural monument in Paar near Kühbach .

history

The church of St. Laurentius and Stephanus has been the burial place of the Counts of Haslang since the 15th century . The previous church, built around 1450, was demolished in 1605. In 1606/07 a new building was built by Abraham Bader and a master Jörg (en) from Munich . The building is counted among the most important post-Gothic works in Bavaria . The branch belongs to the parish of St. Magnus in Kühbach.

Building description

The tower with a gable roof stands in the northern corner of the cross-shaped complex . The sacristy connects to the east . The eastern axis of the single-nave nave is open in arched arcades towards the cross arms. These are square and are spanned by a groin vault. The choir of the church is closed on five sides. The pilaster structured lunette ton was launched a piece of rib network. On the keystones which are arms of the families Haslang, Gumppenberg and Weichs shown.

Furnishing

The stucco from 1606/07 in the form of foliage bars with angels in the cross arms is attributed to Antonio and Pietro Castello . In the sacristy there is a medallion with the bust of God the Father . The high altar is marked with the year 1782. The altar painting from the early 17th century comes from the circle of Peter Candid and shows Saints Laurentius and Stephanus before the Trinity . St. Michael is shown in the extract . The side altars were created in 1785 by Johann Anton Wiest . The altarpieces from 1815 are by Johann Nepomuk Wanner and show the care of St. Sebastian on the left and Maria with her parents on the right . On the pulpit basket from the end of the 17th century there are statuettes of Salvator mundi , John the Baptist , as well as Saints John Nepomuk , Laurentius and Stephanus. Paintings from the early 17th century, also from the circle of Peter Candids, show the Annunciation and the stigmatization of St. Francis . The figures of Saints Laurentius and Stephanus were created around 1450. The Immaculata and Saint Joseph around 1750 are assigned to Johann Caspar Öberl .

Epitaphs

In the nave there are the epitaphs for Georg von Haslang († 1565), and Haimeron von Haslang († 1578) from the circle of Christoph Murmann the Elder , as well as for Heinrich von Haslang († 1566); in the choir the epitaphs of Rudolf von Haslang (without date of death) with mercy seat , and in the floor a coat of arms stone for Heinrich von Haslang († 1491).
