history

In the place of today's church, which is dedicated to St. Luzia , there was already a chapel mentioned in 1499 . This was dedicated to Saints Odilia and Luzia.

Holy Luzia

The foundation stone for today's church was laid on May 8, 1720 and in 1798 Rech was raised to an independent parish . At first it belonged to the diocese of Aachen and since 1824 to the diocese of Trier . Today the parish of Rech and the neighboring parishes of Dernau and Mayschoss form a parish community within the deanery Ahr-Eifel.

St. Luzia is a hall building made from local quarry stone with arched windows . The church is 17 m long and 7.50 m wide. In 1887 a sacristy was added. The original bell tower was replaced by a new building in 1928. The cemetery next to the church was abandoned in 1850 and rebuilt outside the village.

Interior

Pulpit with the evangelists Mark, Matthew and John (from left to right)

The wooden pulpit between the choir and the nave is provided with four sculpted figures, the four evangelists with the corresponding attributes at their feet.

The high altar , a former side altar, dates from the 18th century. On the right in the choir is the sculpture of St. Luzia, a martyr who was killed by a sword blow in the neck.

The church windows were created between 1967 and 1970 and show saints, e.g. B. St. Urban , who is considered the patron saint of wine and the winemaker.
