The Catholic parish church of St. Michael in Wörleschwang , a district of the market town of Zusmarshausen in the Augsburg district in the Bavarian administrative district of Swabia , was opened in the 13th and 14th centuries. Century erected. Wall paintings from the early 15th century have been preserved in the church. The church consecrated to the Archangel Michael is one of the protected architectural monuments in Bavaria.

The current church building was in the 13th / 14th. Century erected. In the second half of the 15th century the choir was renewed and the tower raised. At the end of the 16th century the nave was extended to the west. The bell tower covered with a gable roof and decorated with pinnacles stands in the southern corner of the choir . The curved gable of the west facade was built around 1725.

The single nave nave was covered with a wooden ceiling in 1952. The slightly retracted choir, closed on three sides, has a needle cap barrel . On the ground floor of the tower there is a chapel in honor of St. Albertus, a Scottish king's son, to whose bones a pilgrimage developed from 1742 .

Piece

The stucco in the choir made of bandwork , acanthus leaves and leaf tendrils was created by Balthasar Suiter in 1724 .

Murals

The paintings on the nave walls are dated to the early 15th century. The scene of the Annunciation , the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem and Jesus on the Mount of Olives can be clearly recognized .

Furnishing

  • The wooden figure of St. Albertus in the chapel on the ground floor of the tower dates from around 1500.
  • The three figures of Our Lady , Saint Barbara and Saint Catherine above the altar in the choir are also dated around 1500 .
  • The figures of St. Anthony of Padua and St. Augustine were created around 1720/21, the sculptures of St. Joachim and St. Anna in 1735 by Stephan Luidl .
  • The sandstone cartouche from 1720 with the relief of Archangel Michael on the south wall of the nave comes from the church of the former Benedictine monastery in Fultenbach .
