The Roman Catholic branch church of St. Peter and Paul in Kirchberg in the Upper Bavarian district of Erding is a uniformly baroque hall building that was built between 1728 and 1730 according to the plans of Erdingen's master mason Anton Kogler . It is registered as an architectural monument with the number D-1-77-124-1 at the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation .

Organizationally, the church is assigned to the parish of St. Nikolaus in Schröding . In 1411, Kirchberg, which initially belonged to the parish of Velden , was added to the parish of Steinkirchen . When Schröding was raised to the position of Expositur in 1901, Kirchberg became part of this new church administrative unit. Kirchberg remained there even after Schröding was elevated to the parish in 1921.

description

The church building comprises a four-bay nave and a retracted choir , which ends with a semicircular apse . The west tower , which protrudes slightly into the nave, is arranged on the central axis of the structure. The sacristy is built on the north side of the presbytery . The exterior is structured by flat, white whitewashed pilasters and arched window openings with whitewashed reveals that stand out clearly from the yellow of the exterior walls. The slender tower with its strongly constricted onion dome also has a pilaster structure and has the same color scheme as the rest of the building.

organ

The organ of the branch church St. Peter and Paul was built in 1723 by an unknown organ builder. At first it was placed in the parish church of St. Margaret in Markt Schwaben ; It was not until 1872 that she came to Kirchberg. Special features of the organ are the baroque prospect and the purely mechanical action . The original disposition of the organ was as follows:

In 1921 the instrument was rebuilt by the Behler & Waldenmaier company from Munich while retaining the baroque prospectus. The number of registers has been reduced from ten to six; a free-standing gaming table was added for this . This organ was restored in 1973 by Ludwig Wastlhuber from Mößling near Mühldorf .
