Church of St. Peter and Paul in Kleinbüllesheim

The Catholic parish church of St. Peter and Paul in Kleinbüllesheim , a district of Euskirchen in the Euskirchen district ( North Rhine-Westphalia ), was built in 1906/07. The church consecrated to the apostles Peter and Paul is a protected architectural monument .

history

When the old church, today the Greek Orthodox Church of John the Baptist , had become dilapidated at the beginning of the 20th century , it was decided to build a new church. The new church of St. Peter and Paul was consecrated on August 21, 1907 and the most important pieces of equipment were transferred from the old church to the new.

architecture

The church was built in neo-Gothic styles according to plans by the Cologne diocesan master builder Franz Statz . The brick building on a cross-shaped floor plan has a slightly drawn-in, three-sided closed choir with a sacristy on the south side. Slender, stepped buttresses structure the facade.

The four-story tower in front of it in the west has round-arched sound arcades on all four sides on the bell floor and closes with a pointed, eight-sided helmet . The church interior is illuminated by two-lane, pointed-arch tracery windows . The interior is covered by a ribbed vault supported by leaf brackets . In the choir there are three-quarter round corner services with leaf capitals . A pointed triumphal arch connects the nave with the choir.

Furnishing

The neo-Gothic high altar was erected in 1997. At this time, the ambo , the popular altar and the baptismal font made of gray stone were also newly purchased.

organ

In 2004 a historic organ from the Klais company was installed in Bonn. It was originally made in 1886/87 for the Collegium Josephinum in Bonn. It was then sold to Geistingen Abbey in 1922 . After the monastery was closed, it was bought and restored by the Schulte organ building company . The instrument has 11 stops on two manuals and a pedal . The playing and stop actions are mechanical. As Opus 10 it is one of the oldest Klais organs.
