description

Epitaph of the founder
Sandstone altar and baptismal angel

The baroque hall church was built in 1572 from unplastered rubble stones . It has a polygonal choir and a rectangular, high church tower in the west, which, with its 35 meters height, by far towers over all other buildings in Kleinwerther. In the 18th century, an octagonal upper floor made of bricks and a Welsch hood was added to the tower. Behind its sound arcades is the belfry with a bell from 1587. In the north a crypt was built for the von Werthern family.

The nave is covered with a flat, stuccoed wooden beam ceiling. On three sides there are galleries that z. Some of them are two-story, as well as a richly decorated patron's box . The baroque church furnishings include an altarpiece with a relief and statuettes and a pulpit on a stooped figure of Moses made of sandstone from the beginning of the 17th century. The parapets of the pulpit and its stairs have reliefs on the fields. On the north side of the chancel there is an epitaph of Philipp von Werthern , the builder of the church, and his wife Anna, made around 1580. A baroque baptismal angel is also located inside the church.

The organ with 17 registers , divided into 2 manuals and pedal , was built around 1800 by an unknown organ builder .
