The St. Vitus Church is an Evangelical Lutheran church in Weimersheim , a part of the municipality of Weißenburg in Bavaria in the central Franconian district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen .

The building is registered under the monument number D-5-77-177-580 as an architectural monument in the Bavarian monument list. Its underground components as well as the previous buildings are registered as a ground monument (number D-5-6931-0428). The address is Weimersheimer Ring 27. St. Vitus is the parish church of the parishes Weimersheim and Kattenhochstatt in the Evangelical Lutheran deanery in Weißenburg in Bavaria .

A church consecration is documented between 1057 and 1075 by Gundekar II and between 1182 and 1196 by Otto von Eichstätt . The choir tower church is of medieval origin. The nave was extended in 1738. The relatively high church tower was raised in 1706 and is crowned by a pointed helmet . During a renovation in 1958, frescoes from the second half of the 14th century and late Gothic wall paintings in the choir were uncovered in the basement of the tower . The font dates from the 16th century. The two-manual organ with 11 registers was established in 1971 as Opus 2246 by & Co GFSteinmeyer built. The baroque pulpit is a specialty , as it is located above the bench of the bell bag carrier, which was built in the 19th century . The galleries were painted with floral motifs in 1921. The church was extensively renovated in the 1950s and the second half of the 1990s.

A summer linden tree, which has been designated a natural monument, stood on the site of the church until 2018 .
